Florida State Pays Tribute to Hulk Hogan

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has proclaimed Friday, August 1, 2025, as “Hulk Hogan Day in Florida”, following the passing of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan on July 24. As part of the tribute, DeSantis has ordered U.S. and Florida state flags to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset.

The proclamation honors Hogan’s legacy and deep ties to Florida, where he lived in Clearwater for many years. The Governor’s office stated, “His larger-than-life personality will be missed… He was a true Floridian through and through."

Hulk Hogan’s Cause of Death Revealed

Medical records confirm Hulk Hogan (born Terry Bollea) passed away on July 24 in Clearwater, Florida, from an acute myocardial infarction (heart attack). He was 71 years old. The documents also disclosed that Hogan had been privately battling atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).

Hulk Hogan’s Funeral Date

A private funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at a church in Tampa. According to official documents, Hogan’s family opted for cremation.

The state-wide recognition and upcoming service close out a week marked by mourning and (complicated) celebrations of Hogan’s wrestling career and legacy.
