Last night’s WWE NXT set the stage for Heatwave as Je’Von Evans earned a huge win over Trick Williams to become the No. 1 Contender for the NXT Championship. The Young OG’s victory puts him on a collision course with Oba Femi, while Jordynne Grace made headlines by tearing through security to get to Blake Monroe, and Chelsea Green tried to broker a peace deal between the U.S. and Canada.

The night also featured a wild Philadelphia Street Fight between Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura, with both men being put through tables before Briggs pulled out the win. Ricky Saints picked up an important singles victory over Jasper Troy, feeding off the Philadelphia crowd to overcome Troy’s power with a flurry of offence.

In the main event, Evans battled through a brutal outing with the TNA World Champion, even surviving a crash through the announce table. Williams had him lined up for the Trick Shot, but spotting Mike Santana at ringside proved a costly distraction. Evans capitalized with a cutter and a slam to earn the pin and book his spot against Femi at NXT Heatwave.
