Recent WWE Releases Target Up-And-Comers
The recent WWE releases continue as WWE has reportedly parted ways with three talents from its new WWE ID (Independent Development) program. The news broke when Aaron Roberts announced on social media that he had been released, with PWInsider later confirming that Ice Williams and Jordan Oasis were also cut. This marks some of the first 2025 WWE releases from the developmental initiative.
Roberts, introduced as part of the WWE ID program in late 2024 at a Memphis Wrestling event, shared that he was “fired from my dream job” but made it clear he plans to keep wrestling on the independent scene. Both Williams, a standout from the West Coast, and Oasis, known as the “Global Nomad” from the Pacific Northwest, will still appear on pre-taped episodes of WWE EVOLVE before officially exiting the company.
Launched in late 2024, the WWE ID program was designed to create a pipeline for independent wrestlers to potentially move up to the NXT brand. These recent WWE releases raise questions about the program’s future direction as WWE evaluates its next steps for developmental talent heading into the rest of 2025.
