Alberto El Patron's time in AAA may be over after his recent loss to El Mesias forced him out of the promotion due to a match stipulation. While some fans speculated this could be part of a larger storyline, early signs suggest the departure is legitimate, and now the question shifts to whether a return to the WWE could be next.
Alberto Del Rio WWE Bound?
According to a new report from Fightful Select, sources within WWE have stated that there are no plans for a Del Rio return. Del Rio was still holding the AAA Mega Championship earlier this year before WWE purchased the Mexican promotion, but the title was quickly moved to El Hijo del Vikingo.
Alberto El Patron Released from AAA
Earlier this year, speculation swirled after reports claimed WWE had signed Alberto El Patron. It was later confirmed that the company had taken over his existing AAA contract during its acquisition of the company.
According to Fightful, El Patron is officially done with AAA, and WWE has no plans to bring him back into the fold. While many may continue to hint at a return, history and recent circumstances suggest that another WWE chapter for the former WWE Champion isn't in the cards.
