Is Chris Jericho WWE Bound?
Chris Jericho has wrestling fans buzzing once again after his latest social media activity sparked speculation of a WWE return. The wrestling legend liked an Instagram post highlighting that his AEW contract was up in December and he might return to the WWE. Paired with Jericho’s ongoing absence from AEW programming, many wonder if the end of his AEW run is closer than many expected.
Where is Chris Jericho now? Jericho hasn’t appeared on AEW television since April 2025, when his storyline exit saw him walk out on The Learning Tree stable. With his band Fozzy now finished with touring commitments and quiet roster status, it only adds fuel to the fire about a possible WWE comeback—especially with WWE stacking up major names as John Cena moves toward his retirement. Given Jericho’s history with Cena, it’s easy to imagine WWE exploring one more clash between the two icons, since the WWE has been revisiting past feuds such as John Cena vs Brock Lesnar.
Chris Jericho AEW Contract
A big part of this story is Jericho’s AEW contract, which is set to expire at the end of 2025. Historically, AEW has kept talent off television when their deals are close to running out, and Jericho’s absence lines up with that trend. At 54, Jericho wrestles a lighter schedule and has been one of AEW’s highest-paid stars since the company’s launch. Whether Tony Khan will shell out another seven-figure deal remains an open question.
That uncertainty has opened the door for WWE speculation to run wild. Jericho left WWE in 2018 and quickly became AEW’s first World Champion, giving the new company instant main-event credibility. Nearly seven years later, his return to WWE would be huge. While there’s no confirmation yet, Jericho’s contract status and recent social media nod makes his future one of the more intriguing stories moving into the 4th quarter of 2025.
