La Primera Not To Miss Wrestlepalooza Because of Rumored Injury
Stephanie Vaquer’s road to the WWE Women’s World Championship has taken an unexpected twist as conflicting reports circulate about an injury ahead of Wrestlepalooza. The Chilean star is set to face Iyo Sky for the vacant title on September 20 at WWE’s newest Premium Live Event. WWE first revealed plans for the show earlier this year when they officially announced Wrestlepalooza, and Vaquer’s championship opportunity was immediately slotted as one of its featured matches.
This year’s Wrestlepalooza carries extra weight as it will be the first WWE Premium Live Event to stream on ESPN following the company’s groundbreaking partnership. The move makes Vaquer’s title bout even more significant, as millions of viewers will see WWE’s women’s division showcased front and center when the $1.6 billion streaming deal with ESPN kicks off.
Iyo Sky vs Stephanie Vaquer at Wrestlepalooza
Vaquer secured her shot at the championship by winning a battle royal at Evolution in July, outlasting the field to earn her place on the Wrestlepalooza card.
While fans are excited to see her clash with Iyo Sky, recent updates from the Wrestling Observer have painted a mixed picture. Dave Meltzer reported that Vaquer is dealing with a “minor injury” but assured listeners she is expected to compete as planned. However, his colleague Bryan Alvarez said he had heard the opposite and had no concerns regarding her status. For now, it appears Vaquer remains on track to wrestle at Wrestlepalooza.
