WWE Loads Up On A Huge SmackDown Episode

The Beast Incarnate may be back as soon as this week. According to a new report, Brock Lesnar is scheduled to travel to Chicago this week, ahead of the September 5th episode of WWE SmackDown at the Allstate Arena. With John Cena confirmed for what might be his final SmackDown appearance, Lesnar’s arrival could set the stage for a blockbuster night.

WWE is clearly stacking the deck for this week’s Blue Brand. Beyond Cena and Punk, AJ Lee is also heavily rumored to make her long-awaited return. The addition of Lesnar to that lineup would only further fuel speculation that the company is preparing to finalize Wrestlepalooza storylines on the road to the September 20th event.

Lesnar has not appeared on WWE programming since his shocking return at WWE SummerSlam Night 2, when he attacked Cena moments after Cena’s WWE Championship loss to Cody Rhodes. Reports suggest that WWE is building toward one last major clash between Cena and Lesnar, rumored for Wrestlepalooza, which will also serve as WWE’s historic first Premium Live Event streamed on ESPN.

If that’s the case, Friday’s SmackDown in Chicago is one of only two remaining shows on Cena’s calendar before the September 20 event. With the Windy City already buzzing over Cena, Punk, and possibly AJ Lee, the return of Brock Lesnar would make this one of the most star-studded SmackDown episodes in years.
